This course introduces students to the scope of Arts Management and the Arts and Entertainment industry. Students will develop an understanding of management theories and skills and will be introduced to issues and challenges for creative producers, copyright laws and the challenges that Arts Managers are facing in the twenty first century.
This course provides an introductory study of the fundamental principles, concepts and techniques of accounting. Students are introduced to the Peachtree accounting software and will learn to use this software to execute bookkeeping and accrual accounting processes, prepare and interpret financial statements that summarize balance sheets, and income statements, and the statement
of cash flows.
This course is a continuation of Introduction to the Visual and Performing Arts Practice I and further helps to sensitize students to the practice of the visual and performing arts. Students are exposed to the offerings of each School which is designed to stimulate interest in and appreciation of the practice of the arts.
This content represents level one of the
course. It will sensitize students to
the application of management principles and skills of the visual and
performing arts. Specifically focusing on the principles and skills of music and dance practice for this term. The course will examine
how the practice has been influenced by colonial and post colonial ideas and
values and will examine how the practice has evolved to become essentially
Jamaican in flavour.
