Arts Management Seminar I
Year IV

This course explores ideas which impact on the process of arts development by examining current trends and issues within the Arts, Culture, Entertainment and Hospitality sectors. It explores strategies for developing the arts product, looking at the cultural context and the human resource development, financing and marketing issues.

Independent Study I
Year IV

Project Development 

(Pre- Requisite: AM313A)

This course allows students to conceptualize and document ideas for an arts-based project which forms the basis/background against which students can develop their own projects. It involves, among other things, testing, research and determining the financial viability of implementing the project.

Research Paper
Year IV

This course builds on the knowledge and skills students gained in AM409A Research Methods for Arts Managers by providing them with the opportunity to apply these skills to a real-world research project. The course will cover the entire research process, from data gathering to preliminary analysis and finalization of the research. Individual tutorials and occasional seminars on specific methodological problems will assist students with the research, writing, and presentation of their research paper.

This course will provide students with the skills and knowledge they need to conduct their own research projects. This is an essential skill for students who plan to pursue graduate studies or a career in research. The course will also help students to develop their critical thinking and writing skills.

Internship
Year IV

This course allows students to secure attachment with arts and culture organizations for a period of 3months to one year (part-time.) or 520 hours. This will enable students to secure valuable work experience that will enable them to identify issues that arise within the process of managing and administering the arts.

Product Design
Year IV

This course looks at the process of interpreting the arts incommercial ways, making it commercially viable and income generating. It also examines the commercialization of sector development and the economic development of the industrial sector in the Caribbean and addresses issues of quality.

Independent Study II – Semester 2
Year IV

 Project Development 

(Pre- Requisite: AM408A)

This course allows students to execute an arts based project from idea through to implementation. It involves organizing and implementing a project within a given timeframe. It involves project evaluation strategies, networking and interacting with industry personnel.
